Itinerary

It means Golden Cradle, Choquequirao is  located in  the beautiful landscapes of the Vilcabamba Range over  the  Apurimac River Canyon.
Choquequirao was the dwelling of  the  last  rebel Incas of Vilcabamba, and  like  Machupicchu, the  Spanish were throught never to have discovered it.
This route offers us a formidable trek across diverse ecosystems. We  will enjoy beautiful views of the snow-capped peaks of the Vilcabamba Range, descending into the deep Apurimac Canyon and  then ascending through abundant vegetation to the Citadel of Choquequirao.

DAY 1.    CUSCO-  CACHORA./L/D/ 

Departure early in the  morning on a private transport and drive  to  Cachora, along the way, we  visit the archaeological sites of Saywite and Tarawasi.

DAY 2.  CACHORA- PLAYON SANTA ROSA.   /B/L/D/

Today we enjoy the  impressive landscapes of the Apurimac Canyon. We continue the trail down hill to the Apurimac River, where we cross a bridge and begin to ascend the trail, we campsite in Santa Rosa.

DAY 3. SANTA ROSA- CHOQUEQUIRAO.    /B/L/D/

We ascend to the beautiful complex of Choquequirao ( 3300 m), perched 1500 m above the Apurimac River. Along the way we will have spectacular views of the  landscapes that sorrounds this fantastic Inca site.
Campsite next to the  ruins.

DAY 4. CHOQUEQUIRAO- PLAYON -SANTA ROSA.  /B/L/D/

We have  a tour  guide in the  marvelous archaeological compound, with its spectacular terraces, plazas, and cxeremonial squares, after lunch  hike back to Santa Rosa. Campsite.

DAY 5. SANTA ROSA- CACHORA- CUSCO  /B/L/D/

We return to Cachora, where the  transport will be  waiting to take us back to Cusco.
